Print preview, page set up and printing in Firefox
With browsing history, you can view the web pages that you had visited 3 to 4 days or even 3 weeks. Firefox provides a variety of functions. Some of these functions, you might not use regularly, nevertheless these functions are extremely useful. You can straight away print documents from the browser. With Firefox, you can also edit printing options. This new innovative Firefox application is indeed a multi functional browser.
From drop down menu that is at top left corner of Firefox window, you have choose “File” and then select page set up. You will get two options.
In “ Format and Options, you need to choose landscape, portrait or orientation. You can scale it or auto adjust it. In case you want the background to be printed out, check the box that says” Print background”.
In “Margins and Footer/Header” you may adjust margins and select what you don't want or want in footers and headers. Your imagination in the limit. You have the same options that has a text editor program has. Settings differ from person to person and is an individual choice. Most functions can be accessed from Print Preview.
Download Manager: When you go to Tools and then click on “Downloads”. The Downloads dialog box will appear. This is nothing but Firefox download manager which consists of two functions. You may view finished downloads and current downloads. The download manager has a pleasant user interface. It also tells where your files are stored.
When you click on folder name or icon, the folder will open in your explorer. If you are interested in deleting finished downloads that are on download manager list then all you have to do is click the clean up button. Looking at the download manager, you will come to know how far the downloading process has come, what is the speed of downloading and the amount of time remaining before the downloading process completes. If you decide that you don't want to download the files then you can cancel or even pause the download.
The open link in download manager opens the downloaded file in default application. If the applications are not defined for that particular file then the Firefox will ask with what application should it open the file.
Browsing history: This is indeed a very nifty function. Press “Ctrl + H” and you will be able to view browsing history. Using this window you can visit the URL that you had visited before. The browsing history provides many options. History is divided into days. Thus you can visit websites that you had visited 2 days or 3 days ago. There is a search box in browsing history. Type the string that you are looking for and Firefox will immediately start searching the browser history for websites that contain those keywords. For instance if you type “Mozilla” and the browser will automatically generate a list of of sites visited that contain the word “Mozilla”.On the right of search string field, you have a drop down menu that you can use for sorting the sites.
The Tabbing Function: This is the best feature provided by Mozilla Firefox. Sometimes when you are online, and you want many browsers open simultaneously then things can get quite messy. Instead of opening multiple browsers , you can take the help of tabbing function. This function is of immense use, especially when you want to open multiple windows in the same browser. Press Ctrl + T to use this function.A new tab opens in same browser window, every time you press Ctrl + T.
Using this feature, you can literally open multiple sites in the same browser. Go to tools>options. You will be able to see a variety of options in “General selection”. You can use blank page or pages that you are currently browsing.
