How to make use of tabbed browsing
Firefox improves your browsing experience using tabbed browsing. Firefox allows you to open multiple pages in a single browser window. Each web page can be accessed through separate tab in browser window. You can thus switch over between multiple web pages that are being reviewed or monitored by you. Through tabbed browsing, one can easily keep a track of multiple web pages simultaneously.
Opening tabs in Firefox
To open new tab, do the following:
1] In Firefox menu, choose the 'File' option and then you have to select 'New Tab.
2] Press Ctrl+T
3] An empty tab opens in current browser window. For opening a web page in tab, you will have to enter the web address in location bar, or else select a bookmark or perform a search in search bar.
Opening a link in new tab: First right click the link, and then choose the option 'Open link in new tab'. Enter a URL of any website in the search bar or location bar and then press Alt + Enter. If your computer mouse has a middle button then you have to press it on the link.
Opening bookmarked tabs: In order to open tabs that have been bookmarked by you, in bookmarks menu, you have to open the folder with bookmarks you wish to open. Choose open all in tabs.
Tab Navigation
Selecting a tab: A tab can be selected by clicking it. Contents of tabbed page are displayed and tab becomes active. When several tabs are opened, Firefox will display available tabs only on the screen. For selecting an opened tab that isn't on screen do the following:
Click scroll buttons that are at the edges of tab bar or click on drop down indicator located on right side of tab bar for displaying a list of available tabs. Then choose the tab on which you want to go.
Switching between tabs in a Window: You can jump quickly between tabs in opened window.
In order to jump to next tab press control button + Tab button
Closing a Tab: For closing the tab do any one of the following:
1] Click X button on tab that you wish to close
2] To close current tab, you should press Ctrl +W
3] Right click the tab and choose ' Close Tab'
In case a tab is accidentally closed, then it can be restored only if the window is not closed completely. In short it is possible to reopen a closed tab
Reordering tabs: You can also reorder tabs in current window by simply dragging and then dropping them. Click on the tab that you wish to move, while holding the mouse button down, drag the tab to desired location. For placing the tab in desired destination, you will have to release mouse button.
Bookmarking tabs:
1] For bookmarking a tab, right click on it and then choose ' Bookmark this tab'.
2] In add bookmark dialog, you will have to enter new name for that bookmark
3] For adding a bookmark, choose the bookmark folder where you want to place it. After that, click on 'OK' button.
4] The tab will be bookmarked.
Bookmarking all the opened tabs
1] In order to bookmark currently opened tabs, you will have to right click a tab and then choose 'Bookmark all tabs'.
2] Give a name to the folder; it will contain bookmarks for opened tabs.
3] Select the folder where you would like to place your new folder containing all your bookmarked tabs. Click on 'OK'.
4] All tabs are bookmarked now in same folder.
