What makes Mozilla Firefox more secure than other web browsers?
There are two reasons why Mozilla Firefox can be called as a web browsing software application that is safer and more secure as compared to other web browsing software applications including Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Reason number one is as follows. The fact that the installation of Mozilla Firefox does not involve the same amount of integration with the operating system that installation of Microsoft's Internet Explorer involves is one reason why Mozilla Firefox is more secure than Internet Explorer.
The chances of the high integration being exploited to infect the operating system are very high. In fact, since Microsoft Internet explorer has become the dominant web browser, all hackers and malicious code makers have always focused on taking advantage of this loophole to infect the computers. You might argue that this reason explains why Mozilla Firefox is safer as compared to Microsoft's Internet Explorer.
However, Microsoft Internet Explorer is not the only web browsing software application in the market today. The claim that I have made above is that Mozilla Firefox is safer as compared to not just Microsoft’s Internet Explorer but all other web browsers in the market. The second reason covers that aspect as well. Mozilla Firefox is an open source software application. Since no single person or entity owns this web browsing software application, more and more people are employed in the task of discovering security flaws in the software application. In case of Microsoft's Internet Explorer or any other browser software application for that matter, only those employees paid by the organization have access to the source code. Hence, until and unless the employees discover a particular security flaw, it cannot be remedied.
Even if you discover the security flaw and point it out to the organization, you will have to wait until the employees come up with a satisfactory solution to the flaw. In case of an open source software application, the talent of the entire world may be involved in discovering and fixing security flaws. Hence access and fixes may be available on the Internet in a span of a few days and not months or years as the case is with other web browsing software applications
