Three years of surviving IE- Mozilla Firefox deserves a pat on its back

Despite the fact that Mozilla Firefox is a popular web browsing software application, there is not doubt that Mozilla Firefox can use all the advertisement that it gets. In fact, I have never come across any product or service that could ever afford to say no to advertisement.

Hence, it came as no surprise that Mozilla Firefox had decided to celebrate July 15 of 2006, as the ‘World Firefox Day a good three years after the formation of Mozilla Foundation

Well, when you compete with something as big, as dominant and as monopolistic as Microsoft's Internet Explorer and survive for three long years, I am sure it is a sufficient cause for a celebration. Of course, in the case of Mozilla Firefox, the celebration of three glorious years of existence is even more justified because not as it successfully survived the onslaught of Microsoft's Internet Explorer but it has actually gone on the offensive and captured a significant portion of the market that was previously held by Microsoft's Internet Explorer.

In a short time span of just three years, Mozilla Firefox has clinched the number two spot in the list of most popular web browsing applications. Of course, there are whispers that the number two spot has been wrongly given to Mozilla Firefox and that Mozilla Firefox is the real number one web browsing software application in the world today. However, I think such a feat will take a bit more time

There will be some critics who may snigger at such celebrations stating that they are too premature. However, I think that would be very unfair and very uncharitable on their part. To survive in competition against Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and to survive in the manner in which Mozilla Firefox has survived has made Mozilla Firefox worthy of praise.
