The Firefox web browser won the battle between Firefox 2.0 and IE 7.0!!!!

There are many critics of the Firefox web browsing software application who were of the opinion that the success of the Firefox web browser resulted only due to the fact that there was no decent competition in the web browser market. The fact that the critics of the Firefox web browsers said so despite Microsoft’s Internet Explorer dominating the market is a clear indication of the extent to which Microsoft’s Internet Explorer has ignored the web browsing software application end users.

Further, the fact that existing competition in the web browser market was not tough enough to defeat the Firefox web browsing software applications from succeeding can hardly be a criticism against the Firefox web browser. If at all, it must be a criticism against the other web browsers. Whether the critics like it or not, it is a fact that the Firefox web browsing software application, when it was released, was a lot better than the web browsers that existed in the market.

This line of argument often led to the point that that the Firefox web browsing software application would not survive against improved versions of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari. Until the release of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer version 7.0, this argument created an element of doubt in the minds of supporters of the Firefox web browser. However, after the release of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer version 7.0, the supporters of the Firefox web browser have absolutely nothing to fear.

Today, one can safely say that the Firefox web browsing software application is here to stay. No further improvements in Microsoft’s Internet Explorer or any other web browsing software application will result in a drastic fall in the popularity of the Firefox web browser. The year 2006 was an acid test for Mozilla Firefox. Three major version upgrades of three major web browsing software applications were released in the year 2006.

The critics of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and the Mozilla Firefox web browsing software application were eagerly waiting for the version upgrades to be released. It was believed that the release of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer version 7.0 and its battle with Mozilla Firefox version 2.0 would determine which web browsing software application would succeed in the long run.

The critics opined that Mozilla Firefox would lose out against the more popular Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. Conveniently, the critics forgot that it is Microsoft that should be blamed for ignoring the web browser market and for not upgrading Microsoft’s Internet Explorer version 6.0 to 7.0 for six long years. Suddenly, the fact that Microsoft had immense resources in its hands and the fact that Microsoft’s Internet Explorer was a paid for web browsing software application became relevant factors all over again. Suddenly the fact that it was the seventh version of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer competing against the second version of the Firefox web browser became relevant again.

Thankfully, the success of the Firefox web browsing software application despite the release of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer version 7.0 has silenced the critics. No longer do people talk about the disappearance of the Firefox web browsing software application from the web browser market.

Grudgingly, people are beginning to admit that the Firefox web browsing software application is a reality and that Microsoft’s Internet Explorer will have to work very hard to regain its lost market share. Now that the Firefox web browser has proved that it has the ability to retain its popularity against improved versions of the existing web browsers, it is time to aggressively target the market share of the market leader and become the best web browser in the market.
