The Firefox crop circle may be a crazy idea but it is nice to be crazy once in a while

The most common criticism that the users of other web browsing software applications have to make against the Firefox web browsing software application is that it unnecessary glorifies the task of a web browsing software application. According to them, the job of a web browsing software application is to browse the web. If your browser does its job, then it is a good web browser. The end users of other web browsing software applications fail to understand the reasons behind the big fuss about the Firefox web browsing software application.

While it may be old news to some, I recently came across the webpage of individuals who had created the Firefox crop circle. For those who do not know about the Firefox crop circle, here is some information about the Firefox crop circle.

A few fans of the Firefox web browsing software application who were doing their internship with the Mozilla Foundation came up with the idea of creating a crop circle containing the logo of the Firefox web browsing software application. After a few months of brainstorming session and after a few days of days of hectic planning, they decided to execute the task and finished making a two hundred and twenty feet crop circle containing the logo of the Firefox web browsing software application in an un harvested corn field.

While the Firefox crop circle is not visible from the road, it is clearly visible from the sky. So much so that the Google Earth software application has captured the Firefox crop circle when its satellite crossed over the area where the Firefox circle was created.

While it is easy to criticize the individuals who came up with this idea for wasting a good crop, there is absolutely no denying the fact that due consideration has to be given to the fact that end users of no other web browsing software application have ever thought of something as outrageous as this. That is to say, no end user of the Microsoft’s Internet Explorer web browsing software application has thought of creating a huge replica of the logo of Internet Explorer. Leave alone end users, I do not think any employee of the Microsoft Corporation who has worked and contributed to the development of the Internet Explorer web browser has come up with such an idea. While criticisms about the utility and the rationale behind such an outrageous idea cannot be dismissed off hand, the fact remains that the end users of the Firefox web browsing software application have successfully marketed this project as a tribute to the larger than life nature of the Firefox web browser.

It is still very important to ask why the end users of no other web browsing software applications have come up with such an idea. Perhaps the answer to this question has something to do with the basic philosophy of the Firefox web browser. The Firefox web browsing software application has marketed itself as a web browser that is completely opposite to the existing web browsing software applications in the market. Other web browsers are paid for web browsers. The Firefox web browsing software application proudly insists that it is absolutely free. The source code of other web browsing software applications is zealously guarded. The source code of the Firefox web browsing software application is available for free download over the internet. Other web browsing software applications believe that the end users of web browsers are stupid people who do not know anything about the internet and web browsers. On the other hand, the Firefox web browser respects the end users and tries to incorporate their experience, skill and knowledge into the development of the Firefox web browser. Whether one likes the idea of creating a Firefox logo in a crop or not, the fact remains that such a tribute to the Firefox web browsing software application makes one sit up and think.
