Similarities between Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer
If one really makes an effort, one can find a lot of similarities between Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. Given below are the similarities that I have found in Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer.
The first, most important and most obvious similarity between Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer is that both Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer are web browsing software applications. As compared to Microsoft Word, Mozilla Thunderbird, Winamp and other such software applications, Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft's Internet Explorer have this common characteristic that binds them together-that both are software applications that are used by the users to surf the Internet.
The second similarity between Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft's Internet Explorer is the layout of the web browsing software application. While the colors used and the design of the icons used in Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer differs from each other, there is no denying that the basic layout of both the web browsing software applications is very similar to each other.
If both the software applications are placed besides each other, we will see that the top portion of both the windows consist of toolbars, taskbars and icons that can be used to open other toolbars and taskbars. The colors used in the toolbars and taskbar are different. The icons used to denote the various toolbars are different. The design and themes used are different. However all of us will agree that the top portion of the window has been assigned to toolbars and taskbars alone. The similarity between Microsoft's Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox indicates the extent of popularity of Microsoft's Internet Explorer in the world today. Mozilla Firefox could have boldly assigned the lower portion of the window to toolbars and taskbars. However, all of us have become so habituated to the Internet Explorer's layout that Mozilla Firefox found the risk of bringing the taskbars down as a risk that was too dangerous to take.
