Postponement of introduction of features to Mozilla version 3 will hit hard
One piece of information that I happened to glance upon while surfing the Internet was that the developers of Mozilla Firefox version 2 were forced to shift certain ambitious features intended to be included in Mozilla Firefox version 2 to Mozilla Firefox version 3. I am afraid to say that despite being a hardcore Mozilla Firefox fan, I am forced to admit that this sounds extremely bad for the web browsing software application.
Mozilla Firefox had built its reputation on promising more and delivering even more. Now that Mozilla Firefox has suffered the ignominy of promising more and delivering much less, I am afraid it will take some effort to silence the rabid critics who are shouting Mozilla Firefox down from the roof tops.
While the technical implications of such a delay may be beyond the reach of the lay user, I can foresee an immediate consequence of such a move. The postponement of the introduction of certain features which were to be included in Mozilla Firefox version 2 will certainly strengthen the claim of all those persons who say that Mozilla Firefox will be a victim of its own success. This delay has given people a chance to say that Mozilla Firefox gave a lot when little was expected from it but is not able to deliver when people have immense expectations from it.
The fact that the initial release did not create popularity for the Mozilla Firefox web browsing software application but more of a euphoria will work to the disadvantage of the web browsing software application. First to come will be the disappointment. Next to come will be the denial. The last to come will be the bitter realization that Mozilla Firefox has let its fans down. I am afraid the bitter realization will be very bitter for Mozilla Firefox and its profits
