Mozilla Firefox version 2.0 changes- out of sight means out of mind

In my opinion, one of the biggest problems that Mozilla Firefox version 2.0 will face is that the users will be hard pressed to notice the improvements made in the new version. The users will be hard pressed to note the improvements made in the new version not because improvements have not been made.

There is no doubt that a lot of improvements will be incorporated in the latest version of Mozilla Firefox. The reason why people will not in a position to see them and know that are there is that the improvements have not been made in the appearance of the web browsing software application. The changes have been made in the internal working of the web browsing software application.

The average user of Mozilla Firefox web browsing software application is not a computer specialist and he or she will not be interested in the technical details. If you do inform the user that JavaScript 1.7, client-side session and persistent storage, SVG (scalable vector graphics), SAX (Simple API for XML) have been incorporated into the web browsing software application, you will be met with a dull and bored stare.

The probable response that you will get is “Hmm I guess not much has improved then!!“ considering the fact that most of the improvements made in Mozilla Firefox 2.0 are technical in nature, the average user will not in a position to understand them. Since the average user of Mozilla Firefox will not in a position to understand them, he or she may simply presume that not much has changed.

If at all the user does end up with this perception, it could spell a lot of bad news for Mozilla Firefox. Such a perception may lead to a rise in the number of users reverting back to Microsoft's Internet explorer.

The fact that Microsoft’s Internet Explorer version 7.0 contains a lot of cosmetic changes will make matters worse. There is no doubt that mere cosmetic changes will not improve the web browsing software application. However, cosmetic changes will reassure the user of the web browser that the new version is actually an improvement over the previous one. I am afraid Mozilla Firefox will lose out on this count
