Mozilla Firefox-let the numbers do the talking!!!
I entered into an argument with a friend of mine about to the most popular web browsing software application in the world. My friend was of the opinion that Microsoft's Internet Explorer was clearly the most popular and the most favored the web browsing software application in the world. He was critical of the hype surrounding Mozilla Firefox. He was of the opinion that people were making a big fuss out of a small thing. He had no problem in admitting that Mozilla Firefox was a very good web browsing software application. However, his point was that it was unfair to compare a relatively new entrant into the web browsing software application market with a giant like Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, which is the most entrenched and the most popular web browsing software application today.
He said that the only argument that he needed to present in favor of Microsoft's Internet Explorer was the numbers. The sheer number of users of Microsoft Internet Explorer was sufficient to prove that it was the most popular web browsing software application ever. However, once I started narrating him the numbers related to Mozilla Firefox, he was forced to keep quiet. By the time I had finished stating the statistics, he was forced to admit that he was wrong and I was right. He was forced to admit that merely considering the number of users of the web browsing software application was not sufficient to determine its popularity. He was forced to admit that numbers was not the only factor.
All that I had pointed out to him was that the number of users who had downloaded Mozilla Firefox within the first three months of its launch ranged more than twenty five million users. That is the digit two and five followed by six zeroes. It is a record for any software application in the world that twenty five million users downloaded the application in the first ninety nine days of its existence.
