Mozilla Firefox became successful despite all odds because it was an excellent web browser!!!

Despite the fact that Microsoft’s Internet Explorer was not catering to the requirements of the end users, nobody anticipated that the Firefox web browsing software application would become so popular in such a short period of time. The end users of web browsing software applications had become used to mediocre web browsers to surf the web. They had conceded to the fact that their attempts to extract more from the internet would always be hampered by the web browsing software application that they were using. For some strange reason, they simply ignored the security flaws in the Microsoft’s Internet Explorer web browser and also the fact that it was not suited to their requirements until the Firefox web browsing software application was released.

The critics of Microsoft Internet Explorer had cried themselves hoarse about the flaws in the web browser. However, they had not been successful in identifying a worthy alternative to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. While there was no doubt that Microsoft’s Internet Explorer was not the best web browsing software application round, the end users continued using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer because the alternatives were as bad as Microsoft’s Internet Explorer if not worse. That is the reason why it seemed as if the dominance of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer would never come to an end.

Then came the Firefox web browsing software application!!! Despite being better than other web browsers in many aspects, not many critics and web browsing experts gave the Firefox web browser a chance in taking on Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. For starters, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer was a paid for web browsing software application. What this implied was that Internet Explorer was generating revenue for Microsoft Corporation and could spend lots of money to dominate the web browser market. On the other hand, the Firefox web browsing software application was a free web browser. That is to say, the developers of the Firefox web browsing software application did not get any money from the end users. The developers of the Firefox web browser were wholly dependent on advertising revenue and other sources of revenue to fund the promotional campaigns of the Firefox web browser. The irony was that the Firefox web browser would earn revenue from advertisements only if it became popular. To become popular, it was essential that the Firefox the browser was promoted and advertised. The critics thought the Firefox web browser was struck in a hopeless vicious cycle and that it would be impossible for a free web browsing software application that carried the open source tag to take on Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. When the Firefox web browser was released, the open source software applications were widely considered as problematic software. Many felt this was a tag Mozilla Firefox could have done without. All open source software applications were considered complex and unstable software applications that were unsuitable for expert end users only. No one ever imagined that an open source software application could be designed for mass usage.

Now, if one looks back and asks why the Firefox web browser succeeded despite all the odds against it, the answer is startlingly clear. Each and every critic of the Firefox web browsing software application overlooked the fact that the Firefox web browser was an excellent quality web browser. They overlooked the fact that the first thing that each and every end user of web browsing software applications considered was whether the web browser was a good web browser or not. Whether such a web browser happened to be free or paid for or open source or non open source was irrelevant. The first question was whether the Firefox web browsing software application was a good web browser and the answer to this question was a resounding YES. That is the reason why the Firefox web browser has become so popular.
