Mozilla Firefox- a tad better than other web browsers
For anyone, the biggest reason that enthused us all to use a web browser other than Microsoft’s Internet Explorer was the unending list of bugs and security fixes that was plaguing the web browser. Many a times, I feel that Microsoft’s Internet Explorer become the most popular web browsing software application by sheer default. It became the most used web browsing software application merely because there was no other web browsing software application that was as good as IE. Over the years, people have suffered a lot due to the fact that they were using Internet Explorer. Viruses entered the system, online hackers and other persons with fraudulent intent took advantage of security flaws to wreak havoc.
Then Mozilla Firefox and life became a lot easier. Here was one web browsing software application that did not demand the kind of integration with the Operating System that Microsoft’s Internet Explorer demanded with the Windows Operating System. The reduction in the extent of integration with the Operating System had many consequences. The first and most important one was the drastic reduction in the size of the set up file of Mozilla Firefox. Where there was no web browsing software application that had a setup file below 40 MB with Microsoft’s Internet Explorer’s set up file as big as seventy five to eighty MB.
The implications of the reduction in the size of the setup file were long reaching. In fact, not many people really thought that this reduction in the size of the setup file of the web browsing software application would be of any importance. However, the size of the setup of the web browsing software application was something that affected all the users of the web browser and the reduction was of immense psychological effect. Having a set up file that ranges at five to six MB meant distribution of the setup file became easier than ever.
