How to install Firefox on Windows:
Before you think of installing Firefox, ensure that your software meets system requirements. Visit Firefox download page. It will detect the language and the platform on your machine and will recommend the edition that suits your computer configuration. In case you are interested in downloading another edition of this browser, you have to click “Other systems and Languages” in order to view the list of all others available.
Download setup file to any location on your machine. Make sure that all other running programs are closed. Double click on the file in order to start Firefox install wizard. On clicking it, a welcome screen will appear. Click on Next to continue. Read license agreement terms. If you are ready to abide by agreement terms then check mark “I accept terms given in License Agreement”. Click on the next button to go to next step of setup. In case you are not accepting terms of agreement then you cannot continue further with setup wizard and Firefox browser won't be installed.
You will most probably want standard setup type. When you click on standard checkbox, Firefox with most common configuration will be installed.
Check mark the option “Use Firefox as my default browser” only if you want to use Firefox to open an Internet shortcut or HTML document. At this point, set up will start. It will take few minutes. Once you copy the files, you can close set up wizard by simply clicking the Finish button. If the checkbox “Launch Firefox now” is checked, Firefox will start immediately after you have clicked the Finish button.
Sometimes it happen that Firefox window does not open even after installing Firefox. It displays an error message such as error to launch the application. This indicates that Firefox isn't installed properly or the shortcut is not correct. Make sure that your browser is installed at specified location. If it is not, then you will have to modify the shortcut so that it points to correct location.

According to MacAfee, problem is caused due to conflict between automatic proxy configuration script in Firefox and SiteAdvisor. In order to fix this issue, you should start Firefox browser in Safe mode and then uninstall SiteAdvisor extension.
1] Close down the Firefox window: At the top of Firefox window, you should click on File menu and then choose Quit menu item
2] Go to terminal and select 'Run'

4] When Firefox starts up in safe mode, choose 'Tools' menu that is at the top of Firefox window and then select Add-ons. Add-ons window will open
5] In Add-ons window, you should select Extensions panel
6] Select SiteAdvisor extension.
7] Click on uninstall
8] If SiteAdvisor has been installed as part of McAfee software package, then you can selectively delete SiteAdvisor component using McAfee uninstaller.

If Firefox worked previously but suddenly it doesn't start then this may be because of corrupt data in the settings. If you uninstall and reinstall Firefox, the problem will not go as your settings aren't removed on uninstall. To test if this is indeed the problem then make use of Profile manager for creating new profile. If your problem goes away then if you want you can move your bookmarks and any other important setting into new profile.
