Do you need to use an extension merely because it is there??
I think this whole concept of making use of extensions and plug-ins to make your web browsing experience better is being taken a bit too far. Nowadays, I see any and every user of Mozilla Firefox making use of these extensions simply for the reason that they have the ability to do so. There may be many flaws in Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. However, one criticism that cannot be attached to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer is that it is not a functional software application. In my opinion, Internet Explorer is one of the most functional web browsing software application.
The reality is that very few people actually use these extensions and plug-ins. Furthermore, very very few people actually make use of extensions and plug-ins that are worth using. Hence, we end up in a scenario where people make use of Mozilla Firefox extensions and plug-ins merely for the reason that is there and not for any other reason. It also results in a scenario where extensions and plug-ins are made for the simple reason that they can be made.
I think that people have missed the point when they make use of extensions and plug-ins facility provided to any and every user of Mozilla Firefox. Just because you use a lot of extensions and plug-ins does not mean that you are a very advanced user of Mozilla Firefox. On the other hand, just because you find these extensions and plug-ins avoidable does not mean you are an amateur and or novice user of Mozilla Firefox.
The question is whether you need to use any Mozilla Firefox extension or plug- in. The question is whether you need an external addition to the web browsing experience. If you do not need any external support, then I do not see any reason why you should be searching for one. Forget searching, there are people hankering after such external additions. Personally, I think this is a case of dogs chasing cars. Even if they happen to catch one, they would not know what to do with it.
