After the famine comes the flood. Mozilla, IE & Opera new versions in 1 year
How would you feel if you were kept hungry for more than five days and you were served huge quantities of food consisting of exotic dishes of unimaginable variety on the sixth day?? How would you feel?? Hmm perhaps a bit shocked and unnerved by the whole experience?? Not in a position to decide whether this is for real or not?? Starved for five days and over fed on the sixth- how would you feel??
The reason why I have given such an example is that after a lull for close to half a decade, this year will be witnessing the launch of not one, not two but three new versions of web browsing software applications. After using the same old web browsing software application for five long years, after making do with patches and updates for five long years, web surfers are rubbing their hands in glee over the delicious prospect of three new versions of web browsing software applications to explore.
So many new features, so many flaws, so many hidden bugs and so many things to discover! The most eagerly awaited one if the Mozilla Firefox version 2.0. People did not expect a lot from Mozilla Firefox and it almost delivered a knock out punch to Microsoft’s Internet Explorer in the first round.
So the expectations are running sky high now. There is no doubt that a majority of it all is pure hype. However, people have been living a very ordinary life as far as web browsing software applications are concerned for the past five years and it is just as good that there will be some spice in their lives.
At the end of the day, which web browsing software application will win?? Mozilla Firefox 2.0?? Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 7.0 or Opera 9.0 is anybody’s guess. The best part is that there is so much to guess about now!!!
