A quick introduction to the File menu in Mozilla Firefox!!!!- II
The first set of options offered to the end user of the Firefox web browsing software application in the File menu enable the end user to open tabs, windows, locations and files in the Firefox web browsing software application. The next set of options refer to saving the content of the web page being viewed through the Firefox web browsing software application on the hard disk of the computer of the end user. Many a times, the end user of the Firefox web browsing software application may not have any advantage in saving a particular web page in his or her computer but for the fact that any friend or colleague of the end user of the Firefox web browsing software application may have utility for the web page. In such a scenario, there is no need for the end user of the Firefox web browsing software application to save the web page on his or her hard disk and then send the same to his friend or his colleague as an email attachment. All the end user of the Firefox web browsing software application has to do is make use of the ‘send link’ option in the File menu. The moment the end user of the Firefox web browsing software application makes use of the ‘send link’ function in the File menu of the Firefox web browser, the default mail account of the end user is opened in the same window of the Firefox web browsing software application or is opened in a new tab in the Firefox web browsing software application.
The best part with the Firefox web browsing software application is that the default mail account need not be a mail client installed in the hard disk of the computer of the end user. It can even be a mail account that is accessed and utilized over the internet. That is to say, the end user of the Firefox web browsing software application can make use of the ‘send link’ option in the File menu to open his or her Gmail or Yahoo account to send the link to his or her friend. This is one advantage offered to the end user of the Firefox web browsing software application that is not enjoyed by the end users of any other web browsing software application.
Hence, the two options of ‘save file as’ and the ‘send link to’ feature have been clumped together and separated by all other features by making use of separators. The ‘save file as’ feature can be accessed by making use of the keyboard short cut CTRL + S. Pressing this combination of the keys will open the ‘save as’ window of the Firefox web browsing software application and the end user can proceed to determining the location where the web page is to be saved. These two functions are followed by the print options of the File menu. Using the File menu of the Firefox web browsing software application, the end user can adjust the page setup of the web page to ensure that the print out is to his or her satisfaction. Further, the end user can preview the web page that he or she wants to print to ensure that the print specifications are to his or her satisfaction. Then of course, the end user has the option of printing the web page by making use of the ‘Print’ function in the File menu of the web browser. Just as is the case in many other software applications, the Print function can be utilized by the keyboard shortcut CTRL + P. This is an added advantage for the end users.
