Downloads window and private data in Firefox

Firefox, a new browser has been instrumental in changing the way users surf the internet. Internet browsing has become easier with Mozilla Firefox as it is packed with new features.

What is Downloads window?

Downloads window is indeed a very useful feature that can help you to keep a track and manage your current as well as past downloads. You can conveniently escape the mess of multiple downloading windows while at the same time preserve access to the download statistics.

How to access Downloads window?

You will be able to view a download window when you do any one of the following:

1] Press Ctrl + J

2] From the tools menu that is at the top of Firefox window, you have to select 'Downloads option'.

3] Download a file.

What can be done with Downloads window?

Besides keeping information of your downloads at one place, Downloads window also keeps downloads actions mentioned below easily accessible for your downloads.

Pause: Using this option, it is possible to pause any download that is in progress. All you have to do is click on pause link that is under file entry. This option is extremely useful especially when you want to open up a small download after you have started a large download.

Pausing downloads also gives you a option top to determine the priority of your downloads. To continue the downloading process click on resume link in order to complete those downloads.

Cancel: Suppose you have started downloading a file and all of a sudden, you come to know that the file is large and will unnecessarily consume your disk space. In such a case if, you decide that you don't want that file then you can always cancel the downloading process. All you have to do is click on the cancel link that is beside the file entry.

Open the file: When the downloading process is complete, open link appears beside the file entry. You can use it for opening the file.

Remove File's entry: In case you don't want to store information of a particular download then you can remove the entry by simply clicking the remove link that is beside file entry. When you click on delete button, the information associated with a particular download gets deleted.

Retry a download: Due to some unavoidable circumstances if the download doesn't complete, you can always attempt the incomplete download again. So to retry a failed download, use retry link that is next to file entry and then Firefox will restart download for you.

Display Download Folder: In case you have configured Firefox browser to save all the downloaded files to a folder then it is possible to open this folder by simply clicking Folder name that is at the bottom of Download manager window.

Downloads Window option: You can access options for downloads window by opening downloads section of main panel in options window. They enable you to modify several downloading options.

Clearing Private data: Private data is specifically used by Firefox to enhance your internet experience. When Firefox remembers a site that you have visited or password or user name of your favorite site then this information is often referred as private data.

1] At the top of Firefox window, you have to click on 'Tools' menu and then choose 'Clear private data'.

2] The clear private data window opens from where you can select the private data that you wish to clear.

3] Checkmark the data that you wish to clear and then simply click 'Clear private data now' in order to clear data or then click on 'cancel' button to close clear private data window without deleting any private data.
