Downloading and saving files in Firefox
Firefox, an Internet browser has improved the way people experience the internet. This browser developed by Mozilla is packed with new features including tabbed browsing that can enhance your browsing experience. In case any user faces any problem with Firefox while browsing, it can be resolved by performing some basic steps.
When you select an image or file to download, the download manager retrieves data from remote location and then stores the data on your machine in the location that you have selected. If you are unable to save or download files with Firefox then do the following
Clear Download history: The download manager has record of files that you download from the internet. As time passes this record can indeed grow quite large. You need to clean up this record from time to time.

1] From the menu located at the top of Firefox window, choose Tools menu and then select Downloads menu item.
2] In download manager, click on clear list
3] The downloaded items list gets cleared
4] Try downloading the items again.
Configure Firefox browser in such a way that it does not maintain download history:
Setting Firefox so that it does not save download history can definitely prevent any future download problems. This configuration change can be made in the Firefox option
1] At the top of Firefox window, you should click on Edit menu and then choose preferences
2] Select privacy icon
3] In history pane, you need to uncheck “Remember what I have downloaded
4] Click on OK button
Select a different download location: If you have not specified any different location then Firefox will automatically download the files onto your desktop. However, you can configure the download manager to store the downloaded files in any other location on your local machine. Download problems are sometimes associated to currently selected location to store downloads. If download location is not available then Firefox cannot download any items for you.
In some cases, Firefox can loose track of folder that is used for downloads. You may solve this problem if you choose a different folder and then again select your original folder. You can set your download location through Firefox options.
1] At the top of Firefox window, you should click on Edit menu and then choose preferences
2] Select Main icon
3] In downloads pane, choose 'save files to'
4] For selecting a download location, click on Browse. Navigate to the desired destination to store Firefox downloads.
5] Click on 'OK' button
Reset Download folder: If the above suggestions do not work and you are still experiencing problems in downloading files then you should restore your default folder settings by using following steps:
1] In location bar, enter about:config and then press enter
2] In filter textbox, type browser.download
3] If any of the preferences give below have 'user set' status then you should reset the value. For resetting the value, right click preferences and then choose 'reset'.

Modify download action for the file type: Firefox can be set for handling certain file types with automatic action. Firefox can open certain type of file with an application that you would use for saving the file. This can be easily fixed by modifying the Firefox options to manage that file type.
Configure your security software to unblock the download: Internet security software such as Firewalls can indeed block some file downloads. Check privacy settings or firewall of your security software to find out if there is any option blocking the download.
