Errors when loading websites with Firefox

You may receive a error message when you try to load a website in Firefox. Here are some of the error messages that you may encounter:

Server not found: You may get this message because of the following

Security software: The Internet security software such as antispyware programs, Firewalls and anti virus programs can block your Firefox browser from accessing Internet. This is common especially after Firefox upgrade. When Firefox is blocked by this software, it may give any one of the errors given below.

1] Server not found

2] Unable to connect

If you reset your security software's permission, Firefox will definitely load the website. But make sure that you have good knowledge on reconfiguring these security programs.

Panda Anti-Virus: If your Firefox has an older version of Panda Anti virus then it can also lead to connection problems.

Connection settings: Check whether the connection settings in your Firefox are correct or not. You can make use of settings of a program such as Internet explorer as reference.

Connection settings are not remembered: If you are still facing problems then check connection settings again. If your changes have not been remembered you will notice software on your machine overriding your settings. One program that is known for overriding connection settings is none other than Hide IP. For removing override do the following

1] Open profile folder

2] Open user.js file to edit.

3] Remove lines that have “proxy” word in them.

4] Save the file

5] You need to restart Firefox and then change the settings again.

You may also receive the message” Couldn't initialize browser security component when loading any website. This may be due to problems with files that are in your Firefox browser's security profile. Ensure that the directory does not have any read/write restrictions and check your hard disk's free space. Make sure that it is not full. Experts recommend that you first close the browser and first fix the problem.

You will get this error message if the cert8.db file in your profile folder has become corrupted. In order to delete this file, do the following:

1] From the top menu of Firefox window, choose 'File' option and then select 'Quit menu item

2] Open the profile folder

3] Click on file named cert8.db

4] Press delete and then restart Firefox

New profile: Your settings can be corrupted because of lack of hard disk space or modifications in your system. Create new profile with profile manager. In case if the problem is resolved, then you need to move your settings to new profile. However, if your problem still remains, you may go back to original profile

Another error that you may receive while loading a website is that the web page isn't properly redirecting. This problem is caused by refusing or disabling to accept cookies. If you are not allowing the website that you have accessed to set cookies then it will become confused. That is why make sure that cookies are not blocked.

Broken website: It may be the case that website contains a bug. You can make use of Firefox browser's report broken site feature and alert Firefox developers of the issue. If the website appears broken only when it is opened with Firefox then developers of Firefox browsers may even contact web site's owners in order to resolve the issue. To report that website about the problem, do the following:

1] On menu bar, you need to click on help menu and then choose report broken site

2] On the dialog box that appears, you have to fill in the information in detail about the problem.

3] Click on submit report.
