Firefox - A new innovative browser
Firefox's download manager allows you to track, resume and pause the downloading of files. When you choose a file for downloading it through Firefox, the Download manager opens automatically. Using Download manager, you can keep a track of the progress of your download. After the files have been downloaded, a record of those files is retained in Download manager until you delete it.
To open download manager perform the following steps:
1] On the menu that is at the top of Firefox window, choose the Tools menu and then choose Downloads
2] An easy way to open download manager is to simply press Ctrl +J
Resume and Pause downloads: If required, you can pause the downloading process in progress immediately. For instance, suppose you wish to download 2 files and have started to download the larger one. If you pause the downloading of the larger file and download the smaller file first then you can freely work on some other task after resuming download of larger file. If you pause partially downloaded files then they will be discarded when the Firefox window is closed.
To pause and then resume the download, do the following:
1] In download manager, choose the download that you want to pause
2] Click on pause link that is under it
3] To resume downloading, click on resume link in download manager
How to open a download?
1] When the downloading is complete, an open link will appear in download manager that is next to file's entry.
2] To open file, click on open link.
3] The file opens in default application
Retry or cancel the download: If you have decided that you don't want to download a file in progress, then you should click on 'cancel' link to stop the download. The download that is canceled remains listed in download manager. To restart a failed or canceled download from the very beginning, you should click on Retry link.
Removing the file from Download manager: For removing any file's entry from download manager, you will have to click on remove link. Even if you remove a file from Download manager, it does not mean that the file has been deleted from the system. You should remove the file through the OS. To find out the folder on your system, you will have to right click that entry and then choose open containing that folder.
It is necessary to clean up the items list in Download manager at regular intervals. For removing all the listed items from download manager, you have to click on 'clean up' button.
Open the folder containing a download: In order to locate the folder where you have saved your downloaded file, you have to right click that entry in download manager and then choose 'open containing folder'. Your default browser automatically opens whenever you click on any URL in your mail application such as outlook, an HTML file or an internet shortcut. It is very easy to make Firefox as your default browser. For making Firefox your default browser, do the following:
1] Open the Firefox browser
2] At the top of Firefox window, you should click on Tools menu and then choose 'Options...
3] If its not already selected then select main panel and click on check now.
4] Select yes for setting Firefox as default browser
If Firefox browser isn't still the default browser then there might be some problem in your settings.
If you no longer want Firefox to be your browser then you should set another browser as your default browser.
