I've been asked various technical questions by members, so I've created this topic to address any that you may have.

I've installed Firefox version 1.5.0.2 - this was the version I had downloaded. There's a security update, and Firefox was configured for automatic update download and install. After installing the update - Firefox would not connect to the internet, nor to the LAN router. So I un-installed the new firefox and installed the same version 1.5.0.2 - this happened twice. So third time after re-installing 1.5.0.2 I've disblaed automatic update download and install.
I've got Sygate personal firewall v5.6 build 2808 and AVG anti-virus running on the same PC. There are no proxies setup. Cannot use Firefox after installing update - that's the only problem. Rest everything is working fine.

I was using FireFox and found out that it is not compatible with Adobe products and updating them. Is there research on this topic with trying to fix this problem? The new IE7 beta has the same problem as well. I was just curious.

Kathy,
This is a problem with your internet connection, not your browser. You need to contact your Internet Service Provider to find out why you're not able to access the Internet. Let me know how it goes. -Erica

Dennis,
Firefox works just fine with Adobe products. If you're specifically talking about Adobe Acrobat, you'll need at least version 5 of the Reader to work with Firefox. Try downloading the most recent version and see how that goes for you. If you're talking about another Adobe product, let me know.

Hi; I have downloaded firefox and it worked fine for awhile. Something happened to my computer the other day, and it loaded firefox 178 times. Now I can click on firefox and the bar that shows it being loaded is filled but will not go blank. The hour glass stays on continuly. It seems to take twice as long to load another page. It may take up to five minutes to load another site.

Thank you,

Cindy,
I'll need a bit more info from you as Firefox isn't a mail client, so I'm not exactly seeing the connection here. Are you saying you've never been able to copy/paste into your emails or that since you've gotten Firefox you're no longer able to?

Marian, personally I always use the default and download to my desktop. I do this just for installation files. Once you install something to a directory like "Programs" then you can just delete the installation icons off your desktop, but at least you know exactly where they are so that you CAN install them. Usually when you download something it's because you want to install it right then. So for me it's just easiest to put the installation icons on my desktop, then install the software to its default location, which is usually "Programs". Then delete the installation icons off the desktop. I hope this helps.

Actually I really enjoy fire fox. I've been using for a couple years now. However I had to reinstall it to try to fix a problem. You see about a month ago I downloaded "Stumble" and since I did that ALL my favorites got wiped out. Now still I cant bookmark a site... Any suggestions?

Steven - I did a Google search for "Stumble" but I can't find anything. What is it exactly? I may be able to help if I know what this program/utility is.

When I try to use the firefox browser for a web program called school center - it will not work - there error message says - "A supported browser is required for administrative access. Your browser does not support the folloowing required items: CSS 2.0 and Cookies. Please upgrade your browser."

frank - Check that Firefox is currently set as your default browser. Firefox DOES support both CSS 2.0 and cookies. So my guess is that, despite that you HAVE the Firefox browser somewhere installed on your computer, it's not set up as your default so you're getting IE or something, which does NOT support CSS 2. Let me know.

I have used Firefox for the past 18 to 24 months, I like it.
But, now that I have installed McAffe Virus protection, I can not
use Firefox. I have tried everything I can think of, I re-installed,
I removed and re-installed I gave Firefox full access in McAffe, still
the Firefox browser will not load. Sometimes the Windows Task Manager
says Firefox is running, but the Firefox browser will not open.
I do not want to go back to Explorer, but I don't know what else to try.
Please help.

I love Firefox but I have one question. When I delete spam or anything else with the deletes forever button does this prevent spammers from coming back with the same from address or name?

@ROBERT,
Firefox is your web browser. It prevents web popups, but doesn't touch your email. To handle that you might consider downloading Mozilla's email client to replace your current email client. It's called Thunderbird and it DEFINITELY handles your spam. Click HERE to go to Thunderbird Download page!
Let me know how it goes.

keldwyn,
This isn't a common problem, no. Most likely something else happened to your computer at some point, a crash or something and it affected certain programs that were open at the time. Well done on solving it!

Chuck,
Unfortunately, Zone.com is one of a very few sites that actually REQUIRES that you use IE in order to play the games. You can still use Firefox for everything else and just keep IE for when you want to play games, close out Firefox and open IE then when you're done playing, shut it down and use Firefox for everything else.

I use Firefox both at work and at home, v.5 in both cases. The download at home works perfectly, but at work my import of Explorer bookmarks/favorites won't work correctly. Many of the folders I set up in IE can't be accessed from the Bookmarks button on the main toolbar. I have to open "Manage Bookmarks" and leave it open all day so I can get to the bookmarks that were previously available in IE. Any suggestions? Do you need more info?

I'm using the latest version of Firefox with my Intel Imac. I am also an XM satellite radio subscriber, and was able to get the XM player to play on my computer until the latest Firefox upgrade. Now it tells me I need an unknown plugin. Can you help me understand what's going on?
