Customizing your Firefox browser with Add-ons
With the help of add-ons, new features can be added to Firefox. You can customize your Firefox with add-ons. It is also very easy to install these extensions and you can obtain through Firefox itself.
Firefox add-ons are pieces of software that are used for adding new features. New functionality can be added using add-ons. Add-ons can definitely augment Firefox browser with new foreign language directories, search engine. You can also enhance visual appearance of your Firefox browser using add-ons. Through add-ons, it is possible to customize Firefox to fulfill your tastes and needs. Basically there are 2 types of add-ons: themes and extensions.
Extensions: They provide additional functionality to Firefox application
Themes: They change visual appearance of the browser
Plugins: They help to manage Internet content that Firefox browser isn't designed to process.
Acquiring add-ons: It is possible to acquire new themes and extensions through Firefox itself.
1] At the top of Firefox window, click on Tools menu and choose Add-ons for opening Add-ons window.
2] In Add-ons window, you will find a list of add-ons that are recommended for use. If Get Add-ons panel has not been selected then select it.
How to find and install add-ons: In Get-Add-ons panel of Add-ons window search for add-ons by entering the search term in Search All Add-ons field and then press enter. A complete list of add-ons that are matching your search term will be displayed.
2] In order to install an add-on, you have to select it and then click on the Add to Firefox button. You may be asked to review and then accept License Agreement. Click on 'Accept and install' to continue with installation process.
3] Firefox then fetches the add-on and displays software installation window. To start the installation process, click on 'install Now'.
4] After installation is complete, you should restart Firefox for using new add-ons. In order to restart, click on restart Firefox that will appear after installation process is complete.
5] When Firefox restarts, the add-on that you have displayed is installed along with the previously installed ones
You can browse and then install add-ons by simply clicking on the Browse All Add-ons that will take you to Firefox Add-ons page
In Firefox Add-ons page, you will be able to find new add-ons in many ways given below:
By default, Firefox Add-ons page will display the Firefox extensions that are available. For searching different kinds of add-ons, click on one of the links in left navigator bar:
Dictionaries: They will help you in checking your spellings. Themes can modify the appearance of your Firefox.
Search plug ins: You can definitely add more search engines to your search bar
2. A list of add-ons that are recommended are available. If you want to see more, you have to click on 'View All'
3. For browsing the category of extensions you have to select category name under category panel that is on left side.
4. For searching any add-on by name, type name in search box. Then click on Enter
2] For installing add-ons, you have to just click on its name. Information about the add-on is shown in detail. Firefox automatically verifies whether add-ons is compatible with the version. The add-ons will not be compatible with the current version, if button is simply grayed out.
3] To start installing this add-on, you have to click on green Add to Firefox button
4] After installation process is complete, you have to restart Firefox in order to enable add-on. In order to restart, click on “Restart Firefox that is located at the bottom of Add-ons window.
