Firefox is a Web browser, is developed by Mozilla Corporation. Firefox is very simple, fast, and flexible and user-friendly Web browser, with lots and lots amazing features and it is much more efficient than the other browsers because of its various features. Mozilla’s firefox is very safe and secure, now a day in most of the government agencies firefox is preferred that other Web Browsers. It has a wide range of features, which makes it very easy to use. It is an award winner for one the best browser in the world.

Known problems/ issues regarding Firefox: Following are some of the known problems regarding firefox 1.0.7. The user is expected to read this before reporting any new bugs: -

1) before installing Mozilla’s Firefox the user should ensure that the directory chosen for installation of firefox is clean and it does not contain any documents or any installations of Firefox.

2) if the user installs firefox where there is multiple user system and there is restricted access privileges, in such case Firefox must be run as a user with access to that location upon installation, by doing this all the initial startup files will be generated. If the user does not follow the above process then user will not have sufficient privileges for generating the initial startup files, which are essential.

3) the user should note that Software Update does not request proxy authentication and it will fail if the user is behind a proxy server. In order to avoid such inconvenience the user should visit a web page in the browser and then he should log in to the proxy server and then the user should perform the Software Update.

4) during Upgrading, all the extensions and themes are disabled. This is not a problem but it may look like one. For this the user should check the “Themes and Extensions” on the official site.

5) the user should note that the software update would not work if firefox were installed to a location where there is no write access available. Software update needs to replace the files or create the files in the location where it is installed by the user. In order to avoid such inconvenience the user to take care of the above.

For windows: -

1) if the user has Windows 2000, the user may sometimes experience a crash on exit of the browser specially after viewing the page of that calls the Windows Media Player 9 plug-in. If the user experiences this problem, then the user should make sure that the latest version of Java plug-in has been installed in the computer, or any version above Java 1.5.

2) if the user is installing as a restricted user on the shared machine into a location in which the user can write to, in such cases there may arise negative side effects. The browser will function though but it will not function much efficiently.

For Mac OS X: -

1) the users are requested Not to Run firefox form the Disk image, if such is done by the user it will cause an infinite restart loop.

2) if in case the Mozilla firefox is unable to display a browser window, then in order to quit the user must press Cmd+Q and open ~/Library/Application/Support/Firefox/Profiles/.default/ in order to remove the localstore.rdf. Then the user will have to restart firefox and any customizations made by the user of the toolbar will be lost.
