Parental control add-on for Firefox: You can download the following 3rd party add-on and install it to your Firefox browser to keep your kids safe when surfing the internet.
Glubble for Firefox: Available: This glubble is available at glubble.com. You don't have to pay a single penny to download the software. Currently Glubble is in beta. The final 1.0 version will be launched very soon. Glubble is published by 'Glaxtar' which is a 'Mozilla technology' company that has written popular ad-ons that include Joga.com companion.
Glubble is written specifically with the main intention to drive Firefox browser adoption to all the family members who wish to participate with their young ones activities online. It isn't a filter based concept but is based on “allowed sites” concept in which websites are grouped together into “Glubbles”. Your friends and family members can help to manage your kid's GlubbleWord remotely while automatically being linked up to your kid from any copy of the browser with Glubble installed.
For your young children, Glubble can change Firefox's user interface. Basically there are 2 kinds of user interface. One is for pre-reading age kids while other is for reading age children. Both these interfaces have a scrolling thumbnail top bar bookmarks.
Glubble takes out the search results from various search engines that don't match allowed websites in your kid's GlubbleWord while displaying deep linked results to websites that are allowed to visit. Using these linked results your child can discover useful new content. The built in roaming feature allows you to experience the same protection on whichever computer you use. Of course to get the same experience, Firefox must be installed on every computer. Glubble has a pre-installed starter pack of sites that are suitable for kids under 12.
ProCon Latte: This add-on is available at addons.mozilla.org. You don't have to pay anything to download the site. The biggest advantage of downloading this add-on is that it filters out web pages that contain explicit web content. It provides the facility to maintain bad and good lists of websites. With ProCon, it is very easy to manage “black” and “white” lists of websites and pages. You can also make use of wildcards for identifying patterns in terms and to make use of them in list of websites that you manage. For instance it is possible to blacklist all websites that contain the phrase”XXX”.
ProCon has a list of words that are inappropriate. It removes these words from a page and they are replaced with asterisks. This unique feature can be configured and is very useful for both adults and children. Note that block word filter doesn't block a site that is containing bad words. For blocking this website, it should be included in your blacklist.
BlockXXX: At present, this add-on is not available but very soon it will be published.
