Mozilla FireFox Window settings
Sometimes, it becomes boring to look at the same plain gray FireFox theme. You can change the overall look and feel of the FireFox browser. However, styling defined by author cannot be changed. Only the browsers default settings can be changed. You can make different settings for colors, fonts, cache and performance or speed. As you must have observed links are always underlined on any web page, this is the default behavior of Mozilla FireFox. You can change this default behavior. By default Mozilla displays colors and fonts specified by the author of the website. If you disable this setting and specify your own color then it will overwrite the author’s setting and sets your specified color for all websites you browse.
Home Page setting will contains most commonly used settings of the browsers like how should FireFox handle file downloading or what you want to see on FireFox home page. When you first download the Mozilla FireFox, by default home page is displayed. This setting can be easily changed. To change this default setting you just need to select ‘show my home page’ option. You can also set black page for start up. This will save downloading time as you may not want the same page every time when you browse. Select option ‘Show my windows and tabs from last time’ for restoring the pages last time you were browsing.
FireFox displays images on the web pages which is default behavior. If time is important constraint for you uncheck the ‘images in web pages’ option which will disable automatic downloading of images as images take more time to download. However, sometimes buttons contains images which you may wish to click. If you click these button when this setting is on it will throw an exception. There is another option to enable the images on buttons only. You can also disable the JavaScript to your Mozilla FireFox browser. Though JavaScript is used to make web pages more interactive, sometime it gives annoying results.
As stated above, Mozilla FireFox can overwrite default setting of font type and font sizes specified in pixels. You need to specify your choose of font in Fonts dialogue. There is ‘Advance’ option which specifies options and preferences for fonts. Choose a language from ‘Fonts for’ drop-down list. For example if you wish to set your browsers default language as Latin then choose a Western option from this drop-down list box. If the required script is not available in the list then select ‘Other Languages’ option. Specify any font size which you feel comfortable. Some websites fonts are overly small and barely readable. For that you can set minimum web page font size for your convenience.
No proxy’ is default setting of Mozilla FireFox. Proxy is intermediary between Internet clients desktop. It takes requests from your computer, interprets it intern sends to internet. This improves security and it is often part of firewalls of corporate. Enable proxy setting as your internet service provider itself or organization requires proxy. You can set your browser to automatically detect if the browser uses proxy setting or not and accordingly make settings and it will definitely help in improving performance. If the webpage requested is available in the cache of proxy computer it will save the trip to server. Choose proxy setting if your operating system is configured appropriately.
Moreover to improve performance by specify the amount of hard disk can be used for cache. There is option called ‘Use up to X MB of space for the cache’. This allows specifying maximum megabytes for cache on your computer. To free the disk space occupied by cache there is option as ‘Clear Now’ option. You can store data and view it later even when there is no Internet connection to your computer. You need to block a required website for offline use. Removing the website list from offline content is also very easy. Stored required websites for offline use which will save money and time.
