Mozilla Firefox has revolutionized the way people searched for words in web pages!!!
One of the most commonly used keyboard shortcut in Mozilla Firefox, which is also my favorite keyboard shortcut in Mozilla Firefox, is the keyboard shortcut for searching for a particular word or phrase in a web page. If you have used Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, you would remember that you had to press the CTRL button on the keyboard and press the F button on the keyboard while keeping the CTRL button pressed.
This keyboard shortcut, normally described as ‘CTRL+F’ would then activate the ‘Find window’. Of course, this is the procedure to activate the ‘Find window’ in Microsoft’s Internet Explorer web browser. Once the ‘Find window’ pops up on your screen, you can type in the word or phrase that you are searching for and go ahead with your search.
It has been recognized by users of web browsers all over the world that the ‘search in web page’ option in Mozilla Firefox is the best. At first, it seems improbable that any web browsing software application bettered the keyboard shortcut offered by Microsoft’s Internet Explorer. However, Mozilla Firefox has long established the reputation of exceeding people’s expectations.
It offered such a keyboard shortcut that people were left wondering why they had been impressed with the keyboard shortcut offered by Microsoft’s Internet Explorer in the first place. If you want to activate the search window in Mozilla Firefox, you do not have to press any keyboard shortcut what so ever. All you have to do is start typing the word or phrase that you are searching for. If the cursor is not in the address bar, Mozilla Firefox interprets your keystrokes as an attempt by the user to activate the search window and starts the web page for the word or words that you are typing.
If you are using Mozilla Firefox and if you want to search for the word ‘apple’ in the web page, all you have to do is start typing the word ‘apple’. Mozilla Firefox will immediately activate the ‘Find window’ and take you to that part of the webpage where the word ‘apple’ has been mentioned.
Now that you know what Mozilla Firefox has offered as the keyboard shortcut for the ‘find’ feature, does it not seem as the most obvious thing? Are you not wondering why Microsoft’s Internet Explorer impressed you in the first place?
In what has now become typical of Mozilla Firefox, it did not allow itself to be content with offering this revolutionary keyboard shortcut for all the users. It went a step ahead and gave the users more than what they had expected. Instead of placing the ‘Find’ dialog in the middle of the web page, it conveniently placed it at the bottom of the web page. While this may seem to be a very small thing, it has done wonders to the ability of the user to surf the web in a better manner.
It would not be incorrect to say that Mozilla Firefox is a treasure house of keyboard shortcuts. The onus is upon the user to explore Mozilla Firefox and find as many keyboard shortcuts as possible.
