Firefox version 3.0 is changing further as per the users recommendation

Firefox 3 beta 1 was released on 19 November 2007. This beta version was it was based on the Gecko 1.9 platform, unlike Firefox 2, which was based on Gecko 1.8.1. The use of Gecko 1.9 resulted in a more secure and easy to use version of Firefox 3. It was more secure because you could verify the identity of the site by just clicking once on the “Larry, the passport guy” icon.

It also provided malware protection from viruses, spyware etc. With its automatic updates, Firefox 3 beta 1 automatically updated your add-on versions. The update system would provide updates for Firefox on Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.

Also, to allow secure add- on updates, this beta version disabled updates which were not secure. In the earlier versions of Firefox, kids could download porn using their Firefox browser. However, Firefox 3 beta 1now supported the Vista system wide parental control setting. It enabled parental control settings which disabled unwanted file downloads. In addition, with the password manager is smarter and less annoying.

On the upper left hand corner below the address bar, it is written, “Do you want Firefox to remember this password?” Thus, Firefox 3 provides you a pop-up free way to help remember your passwords. In addition, the download manager helps you perform downloading easily and at a much faster rate. Users could resume downloading even in case of a system crash.

Easier zooming and tab scrolling gave the user a personalized experience. In order to manage your bookmarks easily, Firefox has came up with a smart solution. You could just click on the star icon at the end of the location bar to bookmark a site. Double click on it to either save the bookmark or tag it. You could group bookmarks by tagging them. For e.g. you can save all sites related to “travel” under the tag “tourism”. Therefore, you could easily find your bookmarked sites either by typing the name of the bookmark or that of the tag.

As you kept using the names of the bookmarks and the tags regularly, the system would adapt to your preferences. Again, you could save your favorite searches in the “Smart Folder”, thus saving you the trouble of remembering them. A Bookmarks and History Organizer enabled you to search your bookmarks efficiently.

The Firefox beta 2 was released on 18 December 2007, and consisted of 900 improvements over the previous version. It included better restriction of cookies and better protection from memory leaks, which had become quite an issue with the release of this beta. In this version, the download manager was improved by having it display the exact location of the file to be downloaded.

The Bookmarks and History Organizer in beta 1 was converted to the Places Organizer. In addition, Web based protocol handlers were worked upon. More memory leaks were plugged in.

The Firefox beta 3 was released on February 12, 2008 and included approximately 1300 changes to the previous beta. It improved site verification by changing the color of the site favicon. Also, malware protection was significantly improved. The Download manager also showed the status of your download. Addition of podcasts and video casts also was done.

Tagging and bookmarking was improved so that users could just type the name of the tag to easily search their favorite sites. In addition, the beta 3 made about thousands of add-ons compatible with Firefox 3. More memory leaks were plugged in.

The Firefox beta 4 was released on 10 March 2008 and was released only for testing purposes. It did not consist of any significant changes. The Firefox beta 4 was released on 2 March 2008. In this version, improvements were made mostly on web development tools.
