Sometimes, it happens that Firefox browser crashes when it is opened. A message is displayed about crashing when users try to open it. Here are some solutions to solve the above problem.

Determine if Firefox can open in safe mode: When the browser crashes at start-up, the causes depend on whether the browser opens in safe mode.

1] Close down the browser completely: For doing this at the top of Firefox window, you have to click on File menu and then choose quit menu item.

2] Then go to terminal and then select 'run'. For opening in safe mode, type /path/to/Firefox/Firefox-safe-mode

3] Firefox should open with Firefox safe mode dialog

Firefox loads in safe mode: If Firefox browser doesn't crash when you open the browser in safe mode, the likely cause of problem is a theme or an extension

Some extension versions given below can cause some Firefox versions to crash when they are launched.

Roboform Toolbar: This crash has been fixed in the roboform toolbar 6.9.90. In tools menu, you have to click on add-ons and then choose 'find updates' to get recent version of Roboform.

If you aren't able to fix it, start Firefox browser in safe mode by simply following the instructions given below:

1] Close Firefox completely: For doing this at the top of Firefox window, you have to click on File menu and then choose quit menu item.

2] Then go to terminal and then select 'run'. For opening in safe mode, type /path/to/Firefox/Firefox-safe-mode

3] Firefox should open with Firefox safe mode dialog

When Firefox safe mode window will appear then press the option “Continue in safe mode”.

Firefox doesn't start in safe mode: Another software program that you have installed may cause Firefox to crash when it is opened. Here are some causes:

Crashes on the tablet Pcs: It is found that on some tablet Pcs, the Firefox browser crashes suddenly. This known bug is fixed in the Firefox 3.0.1. Therefore, if you are using Firefox 3, you will have to update the browser to Firefox 3.0.1.

Firefox crash occurs when loading certain web pages: Firefox browser displays a message regarding crash when visiting certain web pages but behaves normally on other web pages.

The crash message displayed will look like the following:

Quality Feedback Agent: There are many reasons responsible that can cause crash on certain web pages.

Specific cases: There are specific issues that can cause browser to crash.

The browser crashes when loading web pages with PDFs: Download Embedded Extension: This extension may cause Firefox browser to crash when loading a PDF file. This extension can be disabled by following steps given below:

1] Click on 'tools' menu and then select 'Add-ons'. Add-ons window opens.

2] In Add-ons window, choose extensions panel, if its not selected already. Extensions that are installed are displayed.

3] Select Download Embedded for displaying the “Disable”, “Preferences”. And “preferences” buttons for that particular extension.

4] Click on “disable” button

5] Download embedded extension will be disabled once you restart Firefox.

The user agent is over 128 characters: User agent is text that browser reports to websites identifying its version.

1] In location bar, you need to type about:config and then press Enter. The about:config warning page will appear. Click on “I will be careful, I promise! And continue to about:config page.

2] In filter box, you have to enter general.useragent. This shows only the preferences containing text general.useragent.

3] For these preferences that start with general.useragent, you have to right click on preference and then choose 'reset'. This action will bring back the user agent to its default value.
