Customizing Firefox browser with Add-on
Acquiring add-ons:
It is easy to acquire new themes and extensions through Firefox browser:
1] At the top of Firefox window, you need to click on Tools menu and then choose Add-ons to open Add-ons window.2] In add-ons dialog box, you will find a list of extensions that are currently installed. By default Firefox has a single extension which is the talkback extension that will allow you to interact with the Firefox team of developers. To view available themes list, click on themes tab.
3] For acquiring new extensions, you have to click on Get extensions. Firefox extensions page will be displayed. Using this page, it is possible to access a collection of extensions and any other items that are available for download.
Finding and then installing add-ons: In Firefox Add-ons page, you need to find for new add-ons.
1] By default this page will display all the available Firefox extensions. For searching other types of add-ons, you need to click on links given below.
Themes modify the appearance of Firefox, Using search plugin, you can include more search engines to your search bar, Dictionaries enable you to check the spellings in additional languages.
2] A recommended add-ons list is available. If you want to see more you have to click on view all
3] To browse category of extensions, you have to select category name that is under category panel.
4] For searching an add-on by name, you have to enter the name in search box. You have to then click the enter button.
5] A list of popular add-ons will be displayed. If you want to see more, you need to click on view all button.
2] To start installing the add-on, you need to click on its name. Detailed information about that add-on is displayed. Firefox browser automatically checks the add-ons that are compatible with the version. In case the color of the button is gray then the add-on isn't compatible with the Firefox version.
3] To start installing the add-on, you have to click 'Add to Firefox' button. You will have to review and accept user license agreement. You must click on accept and install to continue with installation process.
4] After installation process is complete, it is necessary to restart Firefox in order to enable that add-on. To restart the browser, you have to click on restart Firefox that is at the bottom of Add-ons window.
5] When Firefox browser restarts, the add-on that is installed is displayed.
How to manage extensions: Extensions allow you to add new functionality to your Firefox browser and you will see them on different locations of your Firefox screen. For instance new toolbars will definitely appear at the top of your Firefox window. New functions or buttons can be hidden initially.
After you download and install Firefox extensions, you will be able to manage them through Add-ons window. Note that it is possible to download any number of extensions. However each extension that you install requires additional memory. If too many extensions are installed then Firefox performance will be affected.
1] To manage extensions, you need to click on tools menu and then choose Add-ons
2] In Add-ons window, you have to select Extensions panel, if its not selected already. The set of extensions that are installed is displayed.
3] To disable an extension temporarily, you have to select that extension and then click on disable button. When you restart Firefox, this extension will be disabled.
