Autocomplete Form in Mozilla Firefox 3
After you enter any text into a form that may be a search box or a list box, you can reuse this entry whenever you visit that web page again. This feature saves a lot of time as you don't have to type the same thing again and again.
How to use Auto Form Fill feature: If you are interested in using your previous entry in any form then do the following steps:
1] Type few letters of your entry in the form field. The browser displays a drop down menu that will show all that you had entered before into the form.
It is important to note that you get to view a list of the entries that are stored for a form field by simply pressing down arrow key when form field is empty.
2] Press down arrow key so that you choose whatever entry you wish to re-use. Now press the enter button when the entry is highlighted. Text that is highlighted will now appear in form field. A simple way to add the highlighted text is by using the mouse. Click on that entry using the mouse and it will be displayed in form field.
How to delete individual form entries: For removing one of the previous form entries from the Firefox's history do the following.
1] Click on form field and then press down arrow key for displaying all saved entries. You will have to type first few letters of entry to limit number of entries that are displayed.
2] Deleting any entry that you don't want is a very easy task. You have to first highlight the entry that you want to delete. You can use the mouse pointer or down arrow key for highlighting the entry.
3] All you have to do is press the delete button. The entry that you have highlighted will be removed.
You can repeat the above steps if you want to delete more than 1 entry for a form field.
How to clear form history: There are many users who don't want Firefox to remember their previous form entries. So if you want that Firefox should forget all your form entries then perform the steps given below:
1] At the top of Firefox window, you will find the tools menu. Click on tools menu and then choose clear private data option. A dialog appears on the screen.
2] In dialog box, ensure that Saved Form and search history option is checked.
3] Click on clear private data now button. When you click on this button, the dialog box disappears and the form entry gets erased.
How to prevent Firefox browser from storing the form entries: Many ask the question that is it possible to prevent the browser from keeping any form entries. You can achieve this very easily. Therefore, if you don't want that Firefox should remember all that you enter into the form field then all you have to do is disable the auto form fill feature. To turn off this feature, do the following:
1] At the top of Firefox window, you have to click on Tools menu and then choose Options
2] You have to then select privacy panel
3] Uncheck the box or remove the checkmark from Remember what I enter in forms and search bar.
4] Click on OK button. Option window disappears and Firefox browser will not be able to store your form history.
Disabling the form history will also prevent the browser from storing the search history for search bar in navigation toolbar.
