What’s new with Firefox Version 3
If you are using Firefox as your web browser, then there is a good news for you. Firefox has released the a new version which is the version Firefox 3. currently you may be using the Firefox version 2 or the version 2.0.0.17. even if you are using any of these versions you can upgrade it for free. You will get a message from the Firefox org. probably you may have already got this message. If you have somehow missed it, you can check out the “Help” menu. In the help menu there is an option to “Check for Updates”.
when you get the message having the offer to upgrade, you can just click the button “Get the new version” and your browser will be upgraded automatically. However if you doubt or want to know about the advantages of disadvantages of this new version, you can click the button “Learn more”. On clicking the learn more button, a new tab will open and in this tab the page displaying more information about the version 3 will open.
There are a lot of changes in this new version of Firefox 3 some changes have been made in the End User License Agreement (EULA). So you will have to once again sign this agreement. Most terms in the agreement are the same as they were in the previous agreement. Only a few changes have been made as Firefox integrated the new features like malware protection, which required some changes in the User agreement.
When you click the “Get the new version” button, you will get the option the option to sign this agreement and only when you sign this agreement. Then you can proceed further. The up gradation is very simple and fast. When you accept the agreement, Firefox will automatically download the new version. It will also install it. All you need to do then is that close your browser and then again restart it. When you will restart Firefox, this new version will start and you can use it.
Most of the Firefox Add-Ons which yo may be using at this moment have been upgraded and therefore you would be able to use them with the new version as well. However there are some Add-Ons which have been changed almost completely i.e. new version have been created by their authors.
If you are fond of some Add-Ons of the previous versions, you may not want to lose them. You can check whether they are available with the new version or not. Whoever for this you would need to first install the new version and then you can check whether they are available or not.
Checkout whether your Add-on is available or not is very simple. All you need to do is click the Show list when you download the new version. This will display the list of all non compatible Add-Ons for the new version of Mozilla Firefox.
When you upgrade Firefox, and restart it, you will get a dialog box for the compatible Add-Ons will appear on the screen. You can choose to install it or exit without installing it. However, a good option is clicking the Check now button. When you click this button you can know whether a new version for that Add-On is available or not. If it is available you can install that instead.
However if your Add-On is not available for the new version of Firefox, you do need to worry about it any more. Firefox is trying to upgrade all the Add-Ons for the previous versions and therefore you will get it soon if it is not available today.
