Little about Firefox
Firefox allows its users to modify text size that is displayed in web browser. Thus according to personal preferences, you can modify the text with Text Zoom feature. So in case you are not able to read the content of a web page because the text is very small, you can always increase the size of the text to improve readability of the web page.
How to use the text zoom feature
Do you want to resize the screen text? Then do the following
If you want to use the keyboard then it is very easy. You need to perform the following: To increase text size, you have to press the ctrl button, holding this button, you need to press “+”
To decrease text size, you have to press the ctrl button, holding this button, you need to press “-”.
To reset text size, you have to press the ctrl button, holding this button, you need to press “0”.
If you find that using the keyboard is a difficult task then you can always use the mouse but make sure that your mouse has proper scroll wheel, you need to press and then hold the Ctrl button, while at the same time you scroll up to decrease text font size.
Minimum text size: Firefox can be configured for displaying all text with minimum font size. In case a web page displayed contains text size that is less than defined minimum size then the browser automatically increases the text font size.
To set minimum text size
1] You need to click on edit menu that is at the top of Firefox window and then select preferences
2] Select content panel
3] In font and colors pane, you need to click on advanced… option
4] In minimum font size drop down, you need to select minimum font size, in which you want to display the text.
Font size is always measured in points. An inch is composed of 72 points. Common font sizes included are 12pt and 10pt
Vertical scroll bar missing: This may be because of the following: Some themes can be responsible for this problem. In this case, you need to switch back to default theme. For switching back to default theme, you need to do the following:
1] At the top of Firefox window, you need to click on tools menu and then choose Add-ons. Add-ons window opens
2] At the top of Add-ons window, you need to select themes panel
3] Now click on Firefox and then click on 'Use Theme' button. In case this button is disabled then you are using default theme
4] From the menu that is at the top of Firefox window, you need to select Quit menu item
5] Now start Firefox again
With Firefox using default theme, you will be able to view scroll bar.
What to do if down arrow is missing on the scroll power
If you are able to see the up arrow on scroll bar but are not able to see down arrow then you will have to display Status bar. In view menu, you should click to put check mark by the status bar. Down arrow will be visible again.
While browsing certain websites, you will find that scroll bar is not visible on these sites. If this error occurs only on certain sites then you need to clear your cache and then try loading the website again. If problems still remain, then probably there is a bug in the website. If you want, you can also open about a broken website. For reporting a broken website, you need to open the Help menu and then choose Report.
