Mozilla has released the new version of Firefox which is called as Firefox 3 Beta 4. This is the 12th time that a version of Firefox is being released. This new version took the greatest time to develop when compared to all other versions right form the version 1.0 back in the year 2004.
Mozilla has yet again come up with useful improvements and changes in Firefox. This changes and improvements have increased the utility of Firefox much further. Though many new advancements have been made in Firefox, Mozilla has yet kept it as an open source program. Due to all it is set to give a tough competition to internet explore and take away its position crown of being the most widely used web browser.
Because of the changes that Mozilla has made in this new version you will surely get an increased performance from your favorite web browser. For example the optimizations guided by profiles provide an excellent optimization to Firefox to match the way it functions internally.
Thought it is available only for windows at this moment the good news is that it is going to available for Linux very soon. There is no reason for the Mac OS X users as well. In the near future it will be available for Mac OS X as well.
There are a lot of new features added to Firefox version 3 Beta 4. However the most useful is the JavaScript. From now onwards its implementation is going to be much faster than it used to be for the previous version. Mozilla has given due importance to JavaScript because it is used for millions of web pages and therefore it really matters. Moreover Firefox itself also requires it as it manages the UI through the JavaScript code.
If we consider the use of your computers memory, Firefox’s new version has a new feature named the memory cycle collector. This collector will search for unused memory and also free some from the modules which requested but could not release it effectively. Similar tweaks related to memory have really paid off. As compared to other web browsers or even the previous version of Firefox in the new version there will be more effective memory management and more moreover will be freed when you close any window or tab. Moreover there would be no un explained eating up of memory when you are not actively using Firefox. This was one of the major problems with the previous version.
One more feature about which there has been a lot excitement is Places. This is a manager which will manage your bookmarks and history. It is integrated or built in Firefox 3 Beta 4. It can be described as a small but powerful open source database engine which you can use for robust querying.
With the help of this feature you will be able to search your history, bookmarks, tags, and that too with an interface that is fully fledged. You can choose the place where you would like to search, whether you would like searching in History, Bookmarks Toolbar, all Bookmarks, Bookmarks Menu, or any chosen folder. Moreover you can also choose what you would like to search. You can search the visited web addresses, titles, dates, etc. Moreover, you can also combine a criterion. When you have done all this you can save the search as a Smart Bookmark. This Smart bookmark will update automatically as your personal web changes occur or any other types changes.
Then there is a Library, and Places manager both of each add backup and would restore UI so that it more effectively and conveniently recovers any file that has got damaged or a bookmark that you have deleted accidently.
