Changing of Names in the Mozilla
Up to April 14, 2003 there was a name called Phoenix for the web browser. Then there was a change in the name for this web browser only because of the dispute on the trademark issues with the manufacturer called BIUS, Phoenix Technologies who was the producer of the BIOS –BASED web browser had name Phoenix FirstWare Connect.
There were various different views in people for the new name of the web browser which was Firebird because this was already the name of the database server of the Firebird. In the last days of the April month, the below apparent name alter to Firebird browser only for some hours. There was a public release from the Mozilla organization officially that this web browser is opposed to the name Firebird browser and so it should be referred as Mozilla Firebird.
So the result of the continuous pressure from the Firebird society, there was another change in the name of the Mozilla browser. So on February 9, 2004 the software project was again renamed as a Mozilla Firefox & shortly it is abbreviated as a Firefox.
There were a lots of similarities between the Firebird & Firefox.both were same for their uniqueness in the web browsing industory.so for confirming the assurity for no another change in the name, the Mozilla Foundation registered Firefox as the trademark .this trademark was registered with Trademark office of the United States for Patent in the last month of 2003 i.e. December.
So there was delay of long days in the official release of the Firefox0.8 only because of the license & trademark process of this version. So the effect of this delay was that Firefox had already been registered by the Charlton Company as a trademark for their web browser. So this problem was solved by the Mozilla foundation when they permitted the Charlton company to use Firefox as a trademark in the Europe region.
The continuous transformation of the name of the programmer provoked the growth of the tongue-in-cheek extension like "Fire something" which gave permission to the users to randomize the name which is on the startup & The repeated renaming of the program impelled the improvement of the tongue-in-cheek extension "Firesomething", which allowed users to randomize the name on startup, giving it such satirical soubriquets as "Firegiraffe" or "Moonbadger".
Brands & visual identification of the Mozilla: The most visual improvement in the Mozilla is the illustrational identification of the Firefox & Thunderbird. There is an argument on the software which is free & which is designed by the programmers classically. So this also starts argument whether it is designed by the designers of the graphics & other usability gurus. So result of this continuous argument is that it repeatedly has to bear from icons which are poor graphic user interface design & it has very less in the heavy visual appearance.
The first releases of the Mozilla Firefox which are Firebird & Phoenix were identified as the very constructive designs .but they were unable to maintain the standard when they were compared to other software packages.
There was an article by the Steven Garrity who was a professional interface designer in October 2003. In this article he wrote about everything improper things with visual identification of the Mozilla Corporation. Also there was a very much attention from the readers to this article. In this article; open source application suite of Mozilla has been criticized.
