Changes in Firefox after its newest version release
If Firefox is not in operation on your computer and if you type it as a command line URI by using the symbol “|” for splitting then it could open multiple tabs. This way any one could open a Firefox window on you computer by just passing the URIs over the internet. However if Firefox was up and running on your computer then you would not face this problem. However now this bug has been fixed.
Another vulnerability that was reported was the overflowing of the CSSValue counter. By using an improper variable for CSS objects, the attacker could cause the CSS array data structure to overflow and thereby cause a crash. During this crash the attacker could run malicious code while the browser is trying to free the CSS object. Even this vulnerability was fixed.
The third and the final security vulnerability was only for Mac OS X users. This flaw was found in the graphics coding of Mozilla which dealt with GIF content in Mac OS X. Using a deformed GIF file, an attacker could cause the browser to crash and run malicious code on the other person’s computer. This flaw has been resolved now.
Other non security fixes were as follows. The first trivial problem was that the malware and phishing database would not update itself at one go and hence the browser could not save the security certificate exceptions. Another fix concerned printing selected matter from a page. Another issue concerned the default opening of Firefox on a Linux OS in offline mode when a PPP connection was being used.
Facebook Toolbar: An awesome extension! The toolbar consists of a search box which allows you to search for your friends. Just type in your friend’s name and press enter to see the results. Also, from the dropdown menu you can select a friend and visit his or her profile. The toolbar has icons which notify you from time to time about various updates, scraps, etc. You can also interact with your friends by clicking on the “Connect with Friends” icon. This icon opens the sidebar for interacting with your friends and their profiles. You can also share web content with your friends by sending them the webpage you are browsing or posting the webpage to your profile.
Duplicate Tab: This extension makes daily browsing easier for you. It simply copies a tab so that the copied tab has history similar to the original tab. One more feature called “Merge Windows” is available which groups tabs from different windows into a single window. A contrasting feature is “Detach Tab” which converts a tab into a window. You can select the tabs using the Ctrl button.
Shareaholic: If you are a generous surfer who likes to share a lot of stuff with people on the internet, then this add-on is definitely helpful for you. Mostly people share stuff over the internet by pasting the useful links for other people to copy. However this is very boring. Shareaholic allows you to share bookmarks, web-pages, e-mails, etc. with social networking websites. It supports magnolia, google bookmarks, kaboodle, myspace, facebook, reddit, twitter, bzzster, etc. and a host of other social networking sites. This extension will definitely save you a lot of time uploading webpages.
BugMeNot: This is a great application of Mozilla Firefox which allows you to login automatically into those sites which ask for registration. What’s great is that it logs you in with someone else’s password and login id. Once you have installed this extension, you can activate it by right clicking on the fields of login id and password for a particular site. However there have been some reports indicating that it does not work with sites that require to pay.[tags]Mozilla, Fireofx, Mozilla Firefox, Fireofx 3, Firefox version 3.0.0.1, features of Firefox, usign Firefox 3.0.0.1,[tags]
