Ubiquity plug-in

Mozilla has recently announced that it would soon be launching a new plug-in for Firefox. This plug-in called Ubiquity will do some useful things. It was not designed for being just a subnotebook usability enhancer. Instead, it can be called a booster for Firefox, which will boost its performance in several aspects. Nevertheless, the fact cannot be ignored that it is really a very powerful enhancer for subnotebooks.

With Ubiquity, you would not need to open the more than one tab or windows if you would be still opening them. You can browse through or view more than one website or pager pages without doing this. You would be able to do this with the help of simple commands.

Just download this new plug-in and install it and your Firefox. When you do this, you can launch it from the Firefox by simple holding down the CTRL key and at the same time pressing Space. (In case, you are using Mac). When you do this, you will see a command line menu. In this menu just type any command and just, see what happens.

When you enter any letter or letters, this new plug-in will provide you a drop down list of suggestions. These suggestions are related to what you want to type. It is very likely that what you intend to type would be present in the drop down list of suggestions. You just have to choose it from the list. Your entry would be automatically completed and you can go further totype the other words in your command.

As an example, consider the following case. If you want to go to the YouTube and you, start typing its name in the search box. Immediately after you type the fist letter of the first word i.e. “Y” Ubiquity would provide you the list of suggestions in which you can locate “You”. Just click on it and it will be selected and then you can continue further. When you proceed and type “T” a list, containing the word “tube” will be displayed and you can choose it as well.

Ubiquity would be very useful for the people working on computers having very small keyboards or the subnotebooks, which are very award to be used for typing anything. Thus, Ubiquity is a very useful tool for opening any website, or webpage.

Besides looking up for WebPages and websites Ubiquity is useful for a lot more. it can be used for searching, definitions of words. While searching a definition of a word just start typing the word and you get the rest of the word. Most times, in such cases this proves to be very useful, as generally if people do not know the meaning of a word they also do not know its spelling. Therefore, they can commit a mistake while typing that world and therefore they may not be able to find its definition.

One more very special use of Ubiquity is, the ability to paste Google Maps in your emails. Doing this is very simple, just open your Gmail account, and choose the option to compose mail. On the Gmail page, just type map and you will find a location or an address, which is understandable to Google Maps. For example if you want to add a map of the garden in your city. You can just type the “map xxxxx” where “xxxxx” stands for the name of the garden of your city. If Google Maps has this name in its database, the map will appear on the screen. Just click on that map, and then click on the option to insert the map in the page and it will be inserted in your email.
