Mozilla Firefox extension enabled me to display passwords as clear text
For very long time, I was facing a very peculiar problem that was never solved by any web browsing software application. You see, I am the only son of my parents and I am the only person who uses the computer in my house. My parents are not computer literate and are not interested in becoming computer literate. My friends visit me often but they have computers at home and hence do not bother to seek permission to make use of my computer.
Simply put, my computer is mine own and there is absolutely no possibility of any other individual making use of my computer. In such a scenario, I found myself wondering- why should I hide my passwords. While the username of my mail account is shown as text, the password of my mail account is shown as asterisks.
Considering the fact that there is absolutely no one in my house who understands what computer is all about, other than me of course, considering the fact that my computer is placed in my own room and I am always alone when I surf the Internet, I see no reason why the password should be hidden behind asterisks.
If I had my way, I would have configured my web browser software application to allow me to uncover the passwords stored on my computer. The only web browsing software application that came to my rescue was Mozilla Firefox. Mozilla Firefox web browsing software application allowed me to download a Mozilla Firefox extension that enabled me to configure Mozilla Firefox in such a manner that my password was no longer hidden behind asterisks.
Now, when I type the username of my mail accounts, the password is listed very clearly as text. Considering the fact that I have absolutely no problem in showing my password in the open, I find it very surprising that my web browsing software application is more concerned about hiding my password.
