Common issues that are fixed in Firefox 3
Firefox 3 browser is the latest version of Mozilla Firefox. Many new features have been added. Known issues have been fixed. Here's a list of issues that have been fixed
Lost Bookmarks: When using Firefox, you might discover that Firefox has lost your bookmarks. However, in most cases, bookmarks aren't lost and can be recovered. You can try the following solutions.
Unable to locate bookmarks after they are imported: In case the bookmarks have been imported from another browser, they will appear in Bookmarks menu. Do the following to find imported bookmarks:
1] At the top of Firefox window, choose bookmarks menu. Now a list of bookmarks will appear.
2] Depending on the kind of browser, from where you have imported, the bookmarks will appear in a named folder in Bookmarks list.
If you have imported your browser from internet explorer then folder name will be From internet explorer. Folder name will be 'From Opera' if it is imported from Opera. Bookmarks that are imported from other web browsers follow a very similar pattern
3] If source bookmarks had been stored in a proper hierarchy of folders then this structure is preserved inside specially named folder.
4] The imported bookmarks can also be moved to other folders.
No bookmarks found in Bookmarks menu: If you have selected bookmarks menu and don't see bookmarks in it, then Firefox's file might be corrupted. Do the following if this is the issue.
Determine if localstore.rdf file is corrupted:
1] At the top of Firefox window, choose the Bookmarks menu
2] Verify whether it contains bookmarks.
If it does contain set of bookmarks that include links to Mozilla.com website then go to next step
3] From bookmarks menu, you have to choose organise bookmarks. Bookmarks manager will appear.
4] If your bookmarks are visible in Bookmarks manager and are not in Bookmarks menu then localstore.rdf is corrupted
Fixing corrupt localstore.rdf file
1] From the menu that is at the top of Firefox window, choose File option and then select 'Quit' menu item.
2] Start Firefox browser in the Firefox safe mode
3] In Firefox safe mode dialog, you need to choose “Reset toolbars and controls” option
4] Click on “Make changes and restart” option
5] Firefox restarts and you will be able to see bookmarks available in Bookmarks menu.
Unable to save or download files: When you choose an image or file to download then the data is retrieved from location and is stored on the local machine in designated location. In case you are having any problem saving or downloading files using Firefox then here are some possible solutions.
Clear download history: Download manager keeps a record of files that are downloaded. As time goes on, this record will grow quite large. You might want to clean up this record
Clear download history using clean up button
1] Select tools menu from the menu that is at the top of Firefox window and then choose Downloads menu item.
2] In download manager, you have to click on 'clean up' button.
3] List of downloaded items is cleared
4] Try downloading the item again.
Clear download history manually:
1] In case you cannot clear download manager record by using above commands, then downloads.rdf file might be corrupted.
For clearing download manager manually, then you should delete downloads.rdf file manually
1] From menu that is at the top of Firefox window, you need to select 'Quit menu item'.
2] Open Firefox profiles folder
3] If profiles folder does contain multiple folders then open folder for active profile.
4] In profile folder, you need to find downloads.rdf file and then delete it.
