How to enable or disable search suggestions?
Disabling or enabling search suggestions is very easy in Firefox. Do you know that a search bar can be used to disable or enable search suggestions. In order to use search bar, for disabling or enabling this option, do the following:
1] First, you will have to right click on your search bar
2] Find out whether the “show suggestions” checkbox is checked. Observe current state of this menu item. If the checkbox has been checkmarked then search suggestion option is enabled currently.
3] If you want to disable this search suggestion option, then you will have to click on that menu item and the state will be toggled to disable mode.
There is another way of changing the current state of search suggestions option. You can use search engine manager to get the desired result.
1]You will see a search engine icon. Just click on it .
2] Click on the option “Manage search engines” option that appears in the menu

Is it easy to use search suggestions?
Using search suggestions option is very easy. In order to this option, the first thing you will be required to do, start typing the phrase or word in search bar and you will be seeing the search suggestion option appearing. The search suggestion that you will see are sorted by decreasing order. You may find that the search term that you are searching is in the suggestions list. In order to select it, you will have to click on it. The other way to select search term, would be to use down and up keys for navigating in the list and press the enter button when desired suggestion is indeed highlighted.
Are auto-complete results of search history and search suggestions the same?
These are completely different things. Search engines offer search suggestions whereas Firefox offers auto complete results by simply matching entered search term with terms that you have previously looked for. Search suggestion list will be marked with word “Suggestions” that will help to determine whether you are seeing search history or search suggestions. If the list doesn't have “Suggestions” title then list consists of search history
If search term matches items in search history and then triggers search suggestions, a list is displayed. This list is typically divided into 2 sections by horizontal line. Items that are above horizontal line does indicate the search history items. Search suggestion items are those that fall below horizontal line. Firefox browser is very smart as it filters search suggestion result and exclude items in search history. Thus the filtered list that is presented doesn't contain any duplicate entries in suggestion items and history.
Why is that the search items do not appear?
This may happen sometimes, even though search suggestions is enabled. This may be due to several reasons. It is very rare that search results do not appear even if it is enabled
The search engine that you have chosen is not offering search suggestions service. You should first find out the search engines that do not provide this service. This is very much essential before selecting that search engine , otherwise, you won't be able to take advantage of this search suggestion option. You will be glad to know that popular search engines like Answer.com, Wikipedia, Yahoo and Google provide this facility. Suggesting which word would you like to type is indeed a very useful feature provided by these search engines. In case you enter any invalid term, no suggestions will be provided.
