How to set up Firefox on your Computer

To set up Firefox in your computer is as easy as to explore the web with Firefox. Whether you are using Windows or Linux or Mac OSX, Firefox is compatible with all existing operating systems. Just following some easy step, you can set up Firefox browser in your computer and enjoy ultimate browsing.

You can install Firefox with any of the available windows operating system. The minimum hardware requirements for windows operating system to set up Firefox are: Pentium 233 MHz (Recommended: Pentium 500MHz or greater), 64 MB RAM (Recommended: 128 MB RAM or greater), 52 MB hard drive space.

If your operating system is Linux then also minimum hardware requirements are almost same with Windows. And if you are using Mac operating system, you have to compile your computer with following requirements. Macintosh computer with an Intel x86 or PowerPC G3, G4, or G5 processor, 128 MB RAM (Recommended: 256 MB RAM or greater), 200 MB hard drive space.

Having these hardware components with your computer, you are ready to download Firefox in your PC. To download Firefox on your PC visit GetFirefox.com or browse the FTP site. Then click on the download link and automatically its start downloading. Once you download it, next step is to installation on your computer. Installation is a very easy step. Here you have to just follow the instructions as appear on your screen.

Installation:

To install Firefox in Windows Operating System, double click the Firefox Setup 1.0.7.exe installer and it getting started installation. If you are using Mac OSX operating system, double click on the Firefox Disk Image to open it in finder. Once it opened, drag the Firefox icon application onto your hard disk. If you want Firefox icon on dock of your PC then drag it to dock.

To install Firefox in your Linux operating system PC, extract the tarball and run the installer like: tar -xzvf firefox-1.0.7.installer.tar.gz, cd firefox-installer, /firefox-installer. If you have Nautilus set up to run Executable Text Files you can just double click firefox-installer to run. You have to be careful about some requirements before installation Firefox any of the above mentioned operating system.

Before installation Firefox be sure about your directory where you going to install Firefox. It should be clean and does not contain any previous Firefox installation. You also make sure that there is not a single symptom of virus and malware. In Windows OP system sometimes Firefox may hanged after reading a pdf file if you are using older version of Adobe Acrobat Reader Plug in.

You also have to make sure about your Acrobat version. In Mac OSX never run Firefox from the disk image as it causes infinite restart loop. To move out Firefox from the loop, open a terminal and type “killall firefox-bin” and press enter. It will be installed automatically. It will help all users to access anything online material. In Linux and Unix system always install Firefox into a path without spaces, otherwise Firefox may not be able to set itself as Default browser and may keep prompting at startup.

Troubleshooting:

Users face some problems during downloading procedure. For example, if your browser is no longer working, or not starting or sometimes windows not appear properly then you may be suffering from extension on theme problem. This is common problem that a user faces. To overcome this problem, restart the browser in safe mood.

In Window OP, system solves this problem by running firefox.exe -safe-mode. On Linux, start with /firefox -safe-mode and on Mac OS X, run: cd /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/, ./firefox-bin -safe-mode. It helps you to disable all the extensions.
